Friday 3/2nd 6pm-8pm Fundamentals of Ashtanga
The foundations of the Vinyasa technique and history of Ashtanga Yoga. A closer look at Surya Namaskar and how these core movements affect the entire practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Suitable for all levels of practitioners. We will look at the various conflicting ideas about how the postures should be done with one simple goal in mind- how to create a healing, sustainable, and enjoyable yoga practice. $40
 

Saturday 3/3 10am-1pm Led Primary Series in Depth and with Variations
Primary Sereis is the classical sequence that holds us all together . Andrew will share the best ideas he has discovered for developing the ability to practice this original sequence. We will go through the practice with flow, yet take time to explore the more difficult postures and look at various methods for practicing them safely step by step with appropriate personal discretion. This sereis is the basic foundation of several styles of yoga. It has inspired many people in many ways. The aim of this class is to correctly identify the original sequence, while at the same time exploring variations and derivative postures. There are just too many fun things out there to practice! This class also discusses etiquette in yoga classes and attempts to help teachers and students alike to support one another. $40

Saturday  3/3 3pm-6pm Teaching Yoga : Words of Wisom & Posture Adjustments
This is simply a class about teaching yoga. It begins with a brief talk about the qualities Andrew feels are most important in a yoga teacher. We will then explore various methods for adjusting students in postures. How to do this safely is an important part of this class. We will learn to give and receive information using our hands. We will also look at some simple ways to “diagnose” or understand new students and their individual needs based on the ways in which they practice Surya Namaskar. This class will include philosophy and suggestions for teaching, hands on adjustment technique and precautions as well as ideas for how to best introduce beginners to this style of yoga. $40

Sunday 3/4 10am-1pm Intro to Intermediate Series w/ Mudras and Bandhas
This is a gentle introduction to the postures of the Intermediate Series. These postures can be modified and attempted safely by everyone. The postures in the Ashtanga Intermediate Series are taught earlier in other forms of yoga.In order to have a strong, stable practice they should be added slowly and practiced over a period of time. There is no harm, however, in trying them! All Ashtanga practitioners have to one degree or another been instructed in the practice of Bandhas. Most of us learned the concepts of Mula, Udiyana, and Yalandara Bandha right from the beginning of our instruction in Ashtanga Yoga. Anyone who has read the classical texts about Hatha Yoga has noticed that these practices are associated with Mudra practice. In fact, this is the branch of yoga that these practices come from. By practicing the Bandhas in their original form we can gain a clearer idea of how to do them and what they accomplish. Mudra is a very fascinating branch of yoga which is not always explored by Western yoga practitioners. $40

Yoga Island is partnering with nationally certified massage therapist Rebecca Mauldin to provide customized massage therapy sessions at the Island.

Therapeutic Massage in the Moon Room

½ hour: $40.00                       

1 hour: $75.00

1½ hour: $100.00

Appointments & Payment

You may book your personalized massage service by contacting Rebecca directly at

(970) 759-5747. She is available for initial phone discussion of your circumstances and can individualize the appointment to your needs. You may also book sessions through the Yoga Island front desk. To guarantee availability, please book sessions at least one day in advance, although shorter availability may be possible.

Payment is made directly to Rebecca Mauldin. Cash and checks are accepted.

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the appointment or the full amount will be charged. Exceptions will be made if another party fills the appointment.

Gratuities are accepted and appreciated.

For your first appointment, Rebecca will meet you at the reception area of Yoga Island. Restroom facilities are available there as well as in the hallway outside the Moon Room. Filtered water is available in the reception area, so feel free to bring your water bottle.

She is the founder of Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts, an acclaimed massage school she operated in Durango, CO from 2001–2010. She has worked in an outpatient hospital massage clinic, helping patients recover from injury and surgery, at a day spa and Colorado guest ranch, providing relaxing as well as therapeutic sessions for revitalization and general well being. Her passion for healing and loving and accepting nature can be felt in her sessions which are custom made just for you.

Rebecca has practiced massage since 1998, providing relaxation, pain relief, and healing services to a variety of clients. Her specialties—neuromuscular therapy , deep tissue massage, and energy healing—allow her to provide
